Frank Lloyd Cactus

After a couple days hanging out in Phoenix, my host, like so many people I have visited, had to go to work. I decided that rather than watch TV all day as I had in LA, I would venture out of the house and see something.

My first stop was Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home, studio, and school. He had another one in Wisconsin. I cannot really know how much you are likely to know about Frank Lloyd Wright if your father is not an architect, but he is someone I have known about for as long as I can remember.

Here are some pics of the place.

This dragon thing was designed to squirt water, but Wright’s wife instead had gas hooked up to it to make a fire-breathing dragon.

Every home needs a dinner theater.

After Taliesin I headed to the botanical gardens, which my mom had recommended. I do rather like cactus, so I thought I’d check it out. I took some pictures there too. Here are some purple ones that I thought were cool.

Oooh. Artsy.

There are a few more Phoenix Pictures if you’re interested.
